Between December 15^th and March 15^th the ice sheet can be up to 50cm thick.

The water of Lake Weissensee is of drinkable quality. When the sun shines, one can see up to 15 deep into the crystal clear water.

In the 11^th century, the north and the south bank were connected by a bridge made of wood, which was replaced by a reinforced concrete bridge in 1967.

There is no street that passes along the shores of Lake Weissensee; as a result the natural environment remains untouched to this day.

146 km of hiking trails offer you the opportunity to explore the landscape conservation area. For a break you can take a ride on one of the numerous ships. At 8 different quays the cruise can be interrupted and you can continue by foot if you like.

Cruises at Lake Weissensee

Cruises are offered by Weissensee-Schifffahrt between April 20^th and October 20^th but the exact dates may vary according to seasonal demand. A reservation is required in advance.

Liner traffic operates daily between May 13^th and October 7^th.

Ships can also be chartered for festivities or private excursions. The following ships are available:

  MV for 160 people, open air deck, buffet, restroom, ship’s wheel for children
• MS Austria
  MV for 120 people, open air deck, buffet, restroom, ship’s wheel for children
• MS Kärnten
  MV for 110 people, open air deck, buffet

  MV for 60 people
